You just seeded your tournament and you noticed that some of the matches have a BYE, and you are wondering what this is!

A BYE is when a team is automatically advanced to the next round without needing to play in the previous round. A BYE is necessary in a tournament if the bracket is not a perfect bracket which are brackets of 4, 8,16, 32, 64 ... and so on. BYE's can not be removed however organizers can give BYE's based on seeding of the players. BYE's always go to the higher seeds first.
